Kommentarer på Day 34: The savior in need

Gery Landerum will give me a Steve on the nearly 75-mile stretch between Rock Springs and Wamsutter on Thursday. The ride will be compensated with a local run - I always run the full distance.

A difficult logistical problem was solved today in a very unexpected way. In a conversation with a road worker I mentioned in passing that I needed a ride in a few days, so a Steve. --I'll fix that.

Suddenly everything feels much easier. The stretch from Rock Springs to Wamsutter is a nightmare, about 75 miles of pure wilderness. I've had Steves here but it's been difficult to find people who can drive me. Two years ago I posted a request on a local Facebook group and got a nip, I did the same now but thanks to Gery the problem was solved immediately.

Strange, green-shifting mountains along I80 between Lyman and Little America. When I looked for a long time, I could make out different faces.

The day's distance was also long, 57 km, but thanks to the tailwind and the fact that there were few hills, it was a little easier. But the last few miles were a lot of walking. It's like I give up when I get closer to the goal.

Little America is a large and quite luxurious motel and truck stop in the middle of nowhere along the I80 highway. I have checked in here several times and my room is gigantic. The motel complex is set up like a small town, really fancy.

The other day I wrote about the Mormon woman who had at least 18 children. Now I know more. She belongs to a breakaway group, the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saint Church, which practices polygamy, which is somewhat illegal. That was probably the explanation for her being so quiet. The children in addition to the 18 could be her husband's with wife number 2.

Keep on running!

In the 1960?s our family would drive from Salt Lake City to the Wyoming Little America on I-80 for a ?fancy? Sunday dinner?60+ years later, and there you are.
